In addition to academic education and training programmes, the Saudi Mining Polytechnic offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for trainees that aim to hone their skills and accelerate their cultural, industrial and health development to help prepare them for practical and professional life after graduation.
\nThe Saudi Mining Polytechnic implements a wide variety of activities such as safety training in implementing evacuation plans, developing periodic programs to learn about first aid principles, holding sporting events during the training year, in addition to educating trainees about the importance of protecting the environment and recycling waste.
\nIn addition, SMP periodically organizes meetings with mining companies or officials so that the trainees can benefit from their experiences. Also, the public speaking club at SMP is considered one of the most important extracurricular activities whereby trainees learn presentation skills and enhance their English language speaking skills. Added to these are activities that trainees do at some SMP facilities such as the fabrication lab , the safety exhibition, the virtual reality laboratory, and the gym.
