This course describes mechanical measuring instruments, hand tools, electrical and mechanical tools and their use as part of mechanical shop skills. It also explains the basic types and applications of mechanical devices such as valves, pumps, compressors and motors. This includes the types of control devices, switches, couplings and bearings and their applications.

This unit will state and identify the mechanical measuring instruments, mechanical hand and power tools and their usage as part of the mechanical workshop skills. This unit will also identify the basic types and applications of mechanical devices such as valves, pumps, compressors and motors.
