Programs and Specializations

The Saudi Mining Polytechnic offers nine (9) programs: Surface Mining, Underground Mining, Plant Operations, Electrical Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, Exploration, Mining Chemical Lab, Industrial Security Guards Operations, and Cement Manufacturing Technology.

Program Duration

The duration of each program depends on the degree to be offered. Intermediate Degree programs take two years of study at SMP in addition to six months of on-the-job training at the sponsoring company’s site. The Associate Degree programs take one year of study at SMP in addition to three months of on-the-job training at the sponsoring company’s site. The first year of training includes courses in English, computer, life skills, math, and safety. The second year includes specialization courses, followed by on-the-job training for three or six months depending on the diploma type.

Admission dates

Registration and admission dates are announced based on agreement with the recruitment company.

Shortlisting

All applicants’ data is collected and checked. Shortlisted candidates will be promoted to the nomination stage for an interview.

Scheduling interviews

Applicants who meet the program criteria are called for a scheduled interview.

Interview and English placement test

The admission process includes a personal interview as well as an English placement test that measures the level of proficiency in the English language.

Waiting list

The waiting list includes the names of applicants on hold in case some accepted applicants do not show up. The number of trainees identified by the recruitment company is completed from the candidates on the list.

Final selection

Trainees are finally selected after completing the screening process by adding their scores acquired in the interview and placement test.
